This weekend was spent with Andy and Rich some old Uni chums camping in the Lake District.
On Sat we completed a circular route via Helvellyn http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helvellyn. Feeling a little sore but please with myself that this was another hike completed successfully. Including lunch on top of England's third highest peak.
I was the onsite chef, and decided to push the boat out and cooked us a curry for the Friday night and spagbol for the Sat evening.
This was washed down well with some cider [thanks Rich] then followed with a small walk to the 'Travellers Rest' pub on Fri and 'Glenrriding Hotel' on Sat, both very close to our campsite http://www.gillsidecaravanandcampingsite.co.uk/index.htm.
Sunday after some breakie comprising of bacon and french toast we packed up and payed a visit to Ullswater [again very near to the camp site] where Donald Campbell did his water run back in 1955.
The weekend was almost perfect apart from a 1.5 hr wait on the M6 due to a lorry fire. Everybody was out of their cars, we decided to have a small picnic and when the North side of the carriage way was closed off also with no traffic in sight, some bright spark [not us] decided to have a game of football.
Thanks lads, I look forward to Snowdon in the Autumn.
